A Good Day's WorkA joint project of ASMP Kansas City/Mid America chapter and Eastman KodakAt sunrise on May 1, 1999, sixteen professional photographers, all members of the Kansas City/Mid America Chapter of ASMP, descended on the tiny town of Malta Bend, near Marshall, Missouri. Armed with film provided by Kodak, each photographer was matched up with a farmer from the local community and spent the day photographing his activities. The resulting photographs, produced with assistance from Custom Color Corporation in Kansas City, MO, will first be on exhibit at Julie's Store in Malta Bend in September. Here are a few of the photographs I made on the project using Kodak's new EktachromeVS100 film. My farmer, Edward Carter, spent most of the day planting corn, so after exhausting the possiblilities of picturing that activity, I turned my attention to the abandoned farmhouse adjacent to the cornfield where I captured most of the semi-abstract images which are included below.
